Living world glossary


A

Adaptation The process in which living things change, over several generations, to become better suited to their environment. They adapt to climate, available food and avoiding of predators. For example, Arctic hares have thick fur to keep warm, a keen sense of smell to help find plants under the snow and a white coat to blend in with their surroundings.
