Ankylosaurs A group of armoured dinosaurs from the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods. They were covered with rows of bony plates and spikes and had large, barrel-shaped bodies, supported by four sturdy legs. The group includes dinosaurs such as Ankylosaurus and Euoplocephalus, who had bony tail-clubs that they could swing into the heads or bodies of attackers. Also part of the ankylosaur group were the nodosaurs, such as Silvisaurus and Edmontonia, who did not have tail-clubs.
